The GTR is the fully enclosed version
of the Ultima, the effective teardrop
roof section accentuating the flowing
lines and adding to the composite body's
aerodynamic efficiency. The double
hinged doors open at right angles to the
body to allow unrestricted access to the
enclosed cockpit. Slide into the driving
seat and it feels every inch the true
performance sports car. All controls are
perfectly placed for ease and efficiency
of operation and the total absence of
unnecessary frills creates an immediate
'feel' for the car and a total appreciation
of its purpose. Through the steeply raked
screen, your vision is channelled
between the beautifully sculpted front
wings down the road ahead and the urge
to drive is strong.
 
But unlike many such cars, the Ultima

does not intimidate.
 
Where some supercars are race cars with
lavish interior trim, the specific road going
design of the Ultima quickly creates the
confidence and control to drive it thereby
providing the true rewards of ownership.
 
The ride is pleasingly firm, the steering
direct and precise without being at all
nervous, the brakes give instant response
and the smooth pedal action and
superlative gearchange all put the driver
fully in touch with every phase of the
car's progress. This taut feel provides a
dramatic change from conventional cars
that do their best to insulate the driver
from the road.
 
In short the GTR provides purpose
without pretence.
